Training tips for endurance running

Spring running season is creeping up quickly! With the beautiful weather runners are taking to the trails and the road in droves breaking out of winter hibernation. For those of us recreational runners it's a time to finally stretch out legs and revive that carefree summer feeling of sun, soft breezes and long stretches of open road lined with leafy trees and green grass.

If you're just starting out with running, preparing for a summer endurance running event means a lot of training and there's a lot to learn. There's more to running than just putting one foot in front of the other. To run injury free and keep your joints from enduring undue stress, it's important to perfect your running technique and cross-train to build your strength and improve performance.

Building a running program isn't hard. There are free tools available all over the web. Weaving it all together to know what you should be doing to train effectively is a bit more challenging.
